North York has a new grocery destination! Food Basics officially opened its 159th Ontario location at 20 Church Avenue on October 8. The 30,000-square-foot store employs more than 100 people and is open daily, with hours varying by day.
One of the store’s main highlights is its on-site Food Basics Pharmacy, which offers vaccinations, personalized medication reviews, and minor ailment assessments. Shoppers can also find vitamins, health and beauty products, and baby care essentials, making it easier to take care of everyday health needs during a grocery run.
On the grocery side, customers can browse fresh meat and produce, locally sorced products, ready-to-eat BBQ chicken, and the chain’s Irresistibles and Selection brands. Moi Rewards members can earn points on eligible purchases, too.
The October 8 grand opening featured samples throughout the day and a $10 Food Basics gift card for each of the first 200 customers. Metro also marked the occasion with a $5,000 donation to North York Harvest Food Bank.
