TTC’s Halloween Festival is moving to Danforth Garage at 1627 Danforth Avenue, near Coxwell Station. It runs Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, October 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission is $7, with free entry for children aged two and under. The event is entirely cashless, including admission, food and merchandise sales, and proceeds will benefit United Way Greater Toronto. The TTC’s announcement does not explain the reason for the change of venue, but the historic garage offers a distinctive setting for this year’s festival.
Built in 1915 as the Danforth Carhouse, the garage originally serviced streetcars for Toronto Civic Railways before the TTC took over in 1921. After the Bloor-Danforth subway opened in 1966, it became a bus garage, a role it held until 2002. Today, it is home to the TTC’s heritage barns and serves as an office for subway operations.
Visitors can explore a haunted bus bay for spooky thrills or a kid-friendly bus bay for younger guests. The festival also features trick-or-treating, children’s activities, a Halloween carnival, a BBQ, a bounce house, a maze, and TTC-themed merchandise. Costumes are welcome but optional.
The TTC says the scares will be tailored to the audience, though parental discretion is advised. Advance ticket details aren’t specified in the notice, so check the TTC’s official page before visiting.
