A mesmerizing celestial phenomenon is returning to Toronto, and downtown street corridors are about to transform into a photographer’s golden-hour paradise (if the weather gods are on our side).
Torontohenge is set to return this weekend for its final sunset alignment of the year, bringing a breathtaking alignment of light and architecture to the downtown core.
For just a fleeting few minutes on Sunday evening, you’ll get to watch the setting sun align perfectly down the city’s east-west avenues, casting a gorgeous golden glow between Toronto’s soaring glass skyscrapers.
You can catch the sun as it sits right along the horizon, snap some Insta-worthy shots, or simply take in the spectacular view from the sidewalk. The striking event happens when the solar path aligns directly with Toronto’s unique street grid.
If you’re planning to capture the magic, prime viewing spots include popular downtown stretches like King Street West near Roy Thomson Hall, Wellington Street West, Adelaide Street West, and Richmond Street West. You can even head up to Bloor Street West near Yonge for a stunning midtown vantage point!
The spectacular golden window will peak at approximately 6:18 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, though you’ll want to scout your spot by 5:45 p.m. to set up your shot. Grab your camera, bring a telephoto lens to get that extra dramatic perspective, and be sure to stick safely to the sidewalks while taking in the views.
