Fall has officially arrived, and the vibrant colours of the season are beginning to show throughout the province.
While there is tons to do and see this autumn in the city, there’s nothing like the beauty of Northern Ontario this time of year, and one experience should definitely be on your bucket list.
The Agawa Canyon Tour Train has just entered its peak season, offering passengers a scenic journey from Sault Ste. Marie through Northern Ontario’s stunning fall foliage.
From September 15 – October 14, this 114-mile tour takes you through the breathtaking landscapes of the Canadian Shield, past lakes, rivers, waterfalls, and finally into the majestic Agawa Canyon.
These same views have also served as inspiration for the renowned Group of Seven painters.
As you travel, GPS-triggered commentary will play in the cozy coach, sharing fascinating insights into the region’s rich history, including stories of the Ojibway people, fur traders, and early explorers.
Upon arriving at Agawa Canyon Park, you’ll have 90 minutes to explore. Stretch your legs, enjoy a picnic, take in the beauty of the park’s three waterfalls, or hike up to the lookout for a sweeping view of the surrounding area.
After your time at the park, you’ll reboard the train for the 4.5-hour return journey back to Sault Ste. Marie.
The tour runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., taking around ten hours in total, so it’s a full-day experience worth planning for.
Widely regarded as one of Canada’s most exceptional fall experiences, tickets for the 2024 season went on sale earlier this year following overwhelming demand last fall. They’re already selling quickly, especially for weekend trips.
Adult tickets are priced at $160 for trips from September 16 to October 15. You can secure your tickets and check availability directly on their website.
