If you were looking for something to do this weekend, Toronto’s west end is the place to be, as BIG on Bloor Festival brings two days of art, music, and community celebrations to Bloordale.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the beloved summer festival has become one of Toronto’s signature neighbourhood events, drawing more than 100,000 visitors each year. For one weekend only, a 10-block stretch of Bloor Street West between Dufferin and Lansdowne will be closed to traffic and transformed into a bustling pedestrian promenade filled with things to do around every corner.
Festival-goers can wander through interactive art installations, catch live music and performances, browse local vendors, and take part in hands-on workshops that showcase the diverse artists and makers who call the neighbourhood home.
To mark this milestone year, BIG on Bloor is introducing CEREMONY, a brand-new immersive public art experience that turns a local side street into a living celebration inspired by wedding traditions from around the world. Rather than simply observing, visitors are invited to step into the installation and become part of the experience as honorary wedding guests.
While admission is completely free, the festival is also an opportunity to support the independent businesses, restaurants, and artists that give Bloordale its distinctive character. Guests are encouraged to shop local, discover neighbourhood favourites, and take advantage of dedicated calm-down spaces designed to create a welcoming and accessible environment for everyone.
