Toronto is sure to have plenty of fun spooky-season events and activities this Halloween, and we’ve got another to add to your list!
A spine-tingling, immersive Halloween experience will soon take over one of the city’s favourite cocktail bars this October, with the return of the Black Lagoon pop-up.
Starting on October 16, Toronto’s Bar Mordecai will be transformed into a haunted haven, complete with killer decor, themed beverages, eerie music, and so much more.
The highly-anticipated event is expanding to 35 cities across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico this year, following much success over previous years.
This year, here’s a sneak peek at some of the creative drinks on the menu:
- Nosferatu’s Rise – A chilling concoction of Coconut Oil Lot 40, Lustau Amontillado Sherry, Cinnamon Syrup, Bitter Queens Caribbean Bitters, and Saline.
- Hex Appeal – A magical mix of Fords Gin, Honeydew Cordial, Lustau Vermut Dry, Lemon Juice, Seltzer, Saline, Absinthe, and Chlorophyll.
- Memento Mori – A haunting blend of Mezcal Union, Mr. Black Coffee Liqueur, Cruzan Blackstrap Rum, Cold Brew Concentrate, Giffard Banane, Lustau Amontillado, Saline, and Bitter Queens Chinese 5 Spice.
Founded by cocktail veterans Kelsey Ramage and Erin Hayes, Black Lagoon first debuted in Toronto in October 2021.
“Y’all Toronto was our very first city! We couldn’t be more stoked to be passing the broom over to Bar Mordecai” the duo said in a recent Instagram post.
“They killed decor and of course drinks last year and we heard they’re going bigger and better than ever this October!”
The pop-up has earned accolades as one of the top bar events, even being crowned “Canada’s Best Pop-Up Bar” by Canada’s 100 Best back in 2022.
The event encourages you to come dressed in your best Halloween costume to the bar’s “dark dungeons of drink” and get ready to enjoy some deliciously spooky cocktails!
