The Old Farmer’s Almanac has just released its official December 2026 forecast for Southern Ontario, and true to Canadian fashion, it’s calling for a roller-coaster month filled with temperature swings, rain, and snow.
From early bouts of wet flurries to unseasonably mild spells (thanks El Niño), you’ll want to keep both an umbrella and a winter parka close by as the weather shifts across the province.
The beginning of the month kicks off with brief flurries before turning into milder rainy stretches. As mid-December arrives, temperatures will drop as eastern parts of the region see light flurries while southwestern Ontario gets hit with proper snowfall.
For those dreaming of a white Christmas, the report calls for a split forecast: mild conditions with scattered flurries in the east, and colder, snowy periods out west.
Overall, the average temperature across southern Ontario is projected to hover around -2 degrees Celsius, which is about 1 degree Celsius above typical seasonal averages. Precipitation is expected to average out at 55 mm, running 15 mm drier than usual in the east and 15 mm wetter in western areas.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) on the other hand is forecasting that Ontario is overwhelmingly likely to experience above-normal temperatures spanning from November 2026 through January 2027. Only time will tell!
