As the holidays approach in Toronto, one annual event has become synonymous with the holiday spirit in the city: the De Sario Family Festival of Lights.
This beloved tradition, hosted by the De Sario family at their North York home, transforms a quiet residential street into a dazzling winter wonderland – all the while raising money for SickKids Hospital.
Now, the De Sarios are celebrating their 25th year of bringing light and joy to the community, in a display of epic proportions. Illuminating the street in over 50,000 LED lights, the festival draws visitors each year from across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.
From shimmering reindeer to giant inflatables, there is so much to take in. Visitors can enjoy the display from the comfort of their vehicles or stroll along the property’s perimeter for an up-close view.
The light display initially began in honour of their daughter, who was treated with juvenile diabetes at SickKids. Since then, it has grown year over year, encouraging visitors to come enjoy the lights and donate to the cause.
A staggering $303K+ has already been raised by the family over the years, with this year’s goal set at $20,000.
This year, the festival of lights kicked off on December 2 with a spectacular lighting ceremony, where local businesses and neighbours even participated by offering holiday-themed treats and warm beverages.
It will run until January 6, 2025, and takes place nightly from 5 – 11 p.m. While admission is free, visitors are encouraged to donate to SickKids.
You’ll find the De Sario Family Festival of Lights at 165 Benjamin Boake Trail in North York.
