Toronto’s most highly anticipated Christmas event of the year is now officially open for the holiday season, bringing its jubilant charm back to the historic Distillery District.
Ranked multiple times as one of the best Christmas markets in the world, the pedestrian-only Winter Village warms up even the coldest of blustery December nights, open this year from November 13, 2024 through January 5, 2025.
Visitors can expect over 85 local retailers, artisans, and food vendors, perfect for shopping and dining in a magical setting of cobblestone streets adorned with holiday lights.
Stroll through immersive art installations and capture the perfect Christmas photo op, meet Santa Claus himself, and shop for unique gifts at one of the many quaint vendor cabins.
There will be tons of live entertainment to enjoy, including carolers and folk dancers. Be sure to come hungry, as there will be tons of festive food to snack on from roasted chestnuts to gingerbread cookies.
Thirsty? Stop by the on site beer gardens for a pint, or sip on spiced mulled wine or hot chocolate while you explore.
For family-friendly fun, the newly introduced indoor Santa’s Village, located at the Soulpepper Theatre Atrium, offers kids a chance to meet Santa and warm up with hot chocolate. Another charming addition is the North Pole Post, where children can mail letters to Santa.
Swifties in town for the Eras Tour can embark on the “Swiftie Holiday Hunt”. Swift-themed cookies, friendship bracelets, and special activities will be available until November 24.
To kick it all off, the Winter Village’s signature tree lighting ceremony takes place on November 13 at 6 p.m., unveiling this year’s Christian Dior Parfums Christmas Tree. The dazzling display on opening night is the perfect photo backdrop, featuring a 55-ft-tall silver fir tree sourced from Mono Township.
Tickets are required for peak times (Thursday to Sunday evenings and daily from December 16 to 31), priced between $15 and $39.50, with free entry for children under nine. The market operates daily from noon, closing at 9 p.m. on weekdays and 10 p.m. on weekends, except Christmas Day when it is closed.
The countdown to Christmas is on!
