American actor and professional wrestler Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson does not skip a workout, including while visiting Toronto for TIFF 2025!
Gym-goers and staff at downtown’s Fit Squad Training Gym were in for quite the surprise when the Hollywood star made an unannounced appearance yesterday, posting several photos of him posing with members on their Instagram.
Currently in town to promote Benny Safdie’s new film The Smashing Machine, Johnson plays the lead role of MMA legend Mark Kerr with co-star Emily Blunt, which received a 15-minute standing ovation during its world premiere just last week at the Venice Film Festival.
Not long after his workout, Johnson hit the red carpet prior to a screening of the film at the Royal Alexandra Theatre, followed by answering questions at the special “In Conversation With…” event.
Located at 111 Peter St in Toronto, Fit Squad Training Gym is a high-end strength-focused gym known for results-based personal training. It’s also conveniently close to all the TIFF action at King and John, making it the perfect choice for Johnson during his stay in Toronto.
They captioned the photo, “When someone like The Rock chooses to train here, it’s a pretty surreal reminder of what we’re building.”
Despite his superstar status, Johnson reportedly kept things low-key during his visit. The gym owner shared that Johnson arrived focused on his workout, trained without disruption, and only after finishing took time to chat, laugh, and pose for photos with staff and members.
