A twinkling woodland escape is coming to North York this weekend, and it’s going to turn your average skating outing into a whimsical adventure.
If you’ve been looking for a reason to lace up your skates, the Enchanted Forestat Hangar Skate is transforming the iconic rink at YZD into a luminous world of interactive art and shimmering pathways.

Once an airplane hangar, the expansive 6,000-square-foot rink opened on December 19, 2025 and will be open through February 16, 2026, featuring free ice skating, skate rentals, and a full lineup of winter programming.
This weekend’s specialty event will host a guest appearance by the North Fire Circus, who will be bringing the forest to life with roaming animations and mesmerizing skating performances. Expect plenty of movement and light as performers glide through the trees, creating a truly immersive spectacle.
To get into the spirit, guests are encouraged to arrive dressed as their favorite enchanted characters, like woodland creatures, fairies, or fantasy heroes. There will even be prizes awarded for the most creative costumes, and you can complete your look on-site with fantasy-inspired props like glowing wings and floral crowns.

If you need a break from the ice, the magic continues indoors. Big River Bindery will be hosting drop-in workshops where visitors of all ages can try their hand at paper-making and bookbinding, creating a unique handmade souvenir to take home. There will be plenty of hot drinks and local bites available to enjoy under the twinkling lights.
As always, skating at the Hangar is completely free, making it one of the most accessible ways to embrace the season. If you don’t have your own gear, rentals and sharpening are available for just $5, while children under 12 can grab a pair of skates for free.
Taking place on Sunday, January 25, the event runs from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. located at 34 Hanover Road, Toronto. Visit their website here for more details!
