The days between Christmas celebrations and the New Year are often a bit disorienting, but if you’re searching for something to do this weekend, we’ve got you covered with our round-up here!
Get some fresh air between meals at the Aga Khan Museum, which is bringing back its stunning Light Up The Dark Festival – transforming a massive white granite facade into a gigantic outdoor cinema.

The three-night celebration will once again turn the museum’s exterior into a canvas for mesmerizing light and colour. From December 27 to 29, the North York landmark will come alive with animated projections that pulse and glow against the night sky.
Bundle up and watch as the iconic building is reinvented through digital and stop-motion artworks created by the talented minds at OCAD University. These larger-than-life animations draw inspiration from the museum’s permanent collection and the current featured exhibition, As the Sun Appears from Beyond, creating a bridge between ancient art and modern technology.
The projections run nightly from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and are completely free for the public to enjoy. While you’re marveling at the display outside, the museum is also keeping its doors open late, offering a cozy retreat from the winter chill.

Guests can take advantage of free admission to the Museum Collections Gallery or explore the special Al Burda Award exhibition for a special reduced rate of just $10. To keep you toasty while you explore, the museum’s renowned restaurant, Diwan, will be serving up a selection of hot drinks and festive snacks inspired by the rich flavors of the Middle East and South Asia.
Beyond the lights, the weekend is packed with interactive activities designed for all ages. You can catch live calligraphy demonstrations in the atrium, join “Object Spotlight” sessions to hear the secret histories of rare artifacts, or get hands-on at a holiday workshop.
