Toronto always keeps things interesting, including the transformation of an old airport runway into a drive-in movie theatre opening this week!
On October 3 and 4, 2025, Toronto’s YZD Hangar is treating movie lovers to free screenings under the stars, with the return of their epic Runway Reels programming.
The two-night drive-in movie series will offer both traditional car-friendly drive-in spots as well as open-air lounge-style seating to those who prefer it.
Kicking off the event will be a screening of Titanic on Friday, October 3, where attendees can relive one of the most iconic love stories in cinema history. The screening is a special nod to Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, currently showing at Exhibition Hub at YZD, making it the perfect pairing for fans of history and film. Make a day of it by exploring the exhibition beforehand!
The following night, Saturday, October 4, families can enjoy the heartwarming adventure of Lilo & Stitch, which celebrates themes of found family and friendship while tying into Runway Rivers, an art installation flowing across the YZD site.
Before your screening, be sure to arrive early as there will be preshow entertainment and classic concession snacks available for purchase. The movie screenings will start promptly at 6 p.m.
While admission to Runway Reels at YZD Hangar is completely free, advance registration is required through the official YZD website to secure your spot.
