A massive two-day global music event is returning to Toronto next weekend, and it’s bringing the rhythm, heat, and heart right to the waterfront.
Mixto Festival returns to Trillium Park on July 12 and 13, 2025, transforming the scenic lakefront space into a lively, intergenerational celebration of music, dance, food, and culture.
And for the best part? It’s completely free to attend!
Produced by Toronto-based Uma Nota Culture, Mixto Festival (which translates to “mixed” in Portuguese and Spanish) invites people of all ages, backgrounds, and identities to come together through sound and shared experience, celebrating togetherness in every sense of the word.
The 2025 lineup features a genre-defying blend of global talent and local favourites. Some of the most anticipated artists from this year’s line-up include Bia Ferreira, a queer Afro-Brazilian artist fusing soul, activism, and spirituality; Frente Cumbiero, Colombia’s psychedelic cumbia pioneers; and Empanadas Ilegales, a high-energy Latin surf-rock outfit from Vancouver.
Toronto artists like Ahmed Moneka, Orbital Ensemble, Ana Luisa, Sofia Fly, and Sanjeet will also be performing, showcasing the diversity of talent from different music scenes within the city.
In addition to the music stages, attendees can immerse themselves further in art and culture. Recharge between sets at Public Sweat, an interactive art and wellness installation offering free access to mobile saunas and cold plunges.
After working up an appetite from the dance party, fuel up at the international street food market and sip authentic Brazilian caipirinhas at Uma Nota’s bar. Kids can explore Camp Mixto, a creative play zone designed for little festival-goers.
Festival Producer Kristyn Gelfand calls Mixto “a love letter to the city,” emphasizing the event’s mission to reclaim public space through joy and cultural visibility.
“From sunset DJ sets to capoeira, every element of the program is designed to reclaim space through joy, movement, and cultural visibility. We invite everyone—families, friends, even pups—to join us for a weekend of music, connection, and
summertime celebration,” she says.
Inspired by block parties, sound system culture, and community-led celebrations, Mixto is built on the belief that music should be accessible to all.
By remaining free and open to the public, the festival actively works to break down barriers – economic, geographic, or otherwise – and build a space where everyone belongs.
The event will run on Saturday, July 12 and Sunday July 13 from 3 – 11 p.m. at Trillium Park. Visit their website here to learn more!
