A breathtaking boardwalk that brings you up close and personal with roaring turquoise waves is set to reopen its gates this April.
As the city shakes off the last of the winter chill, the return of Niagara’s White Water Walk marks one of the first signs that daytrip season has officially arrived.

Located just a short drive from Toronto, this hidden gem offers a front-row seat to the raw power of the Niagara River, where the water surges at a staggering 48 km/hr.
The journey begins with a 70-metre elevator ride that takes you deep into the heart of the Niagara Gorge. After strolling through a 73-metre tunnel, you’ll emerge onto a quarter-mile boardwalk nestled right at the water’s edge.
Unlike the crowded sidewalks near the main falls, this experience lets you get up close and personal with Class 6 whitewater rapids, which are some of the wildest and most dangerous in North America.

While the rushing standing waves are the main attraction, there’s plenty more to discover as you wander the self-guided path. Visitors can marvel at the ancient geology, comprised of towering rock layers of the gorge, which date back over 410 million years.
If you branch off the main boardwalk, you’ll find several viewing platforms that lean directly over the churning whirlpool rapids. While there, read up on the daring “daredevils” who once tried to navigate these treacherous waters.
Finally, you’ll also find a Harriet Tubman Memorial, complete with commemorative panels honoring her historic crossing into Canada and the arrival of freedom seekers.
Opening for the 2026 season on April 25, 2026, the White Water Walk is located at 4330 River Road. It’s an easy addition to any Niagara itinerary, sitting just 4 km north of the Horseshoe Falls.
The experience typically takes about an hour, making it the perfect low-stress adventure for those who want to skip the high-intensity rides but still feel the mist on their face. Admission for the 2026 season is priced at $21 for adults and $13.50 for children.
