Somewhere between the vineyards and the quiet country roads of Pelham, Ontario, a husband-and-wife team decided to plant two million tulips. Not a typo. Two. Million. Each spring, bulbs imported from the Netherlands erupt into vivid ribbons of colour, turning the Niagara countryside into something that feels almost unreal.
JP Niagara Tulip Experience is a family-run, pick-your-own farm in the heart of Niagara wine country, about an hour from Toronto. Founders Joseph and Paula have transformed rural Pelham into one of Ontario’s most photogenic spring spots, with over 100 tulip varieties in every shade from fiery reds and soft pinks to deep purples and striking parrot blooms.

About The Farm
Here’s the best part: your ticket includes ten tulips to pick yourself, no scissors needed. Grab a basket, wander through endless rows, and snap the stems by hand. Want more? Extra blooms are $1.50 each, still cheaper than most city flower shops. You’ll leave with a handpicked bouquet you gathered yourself.
The farm also doubles as a full-blown photo playground. Think floral arches, a vintage blue car parked among the petals, a piano sitting in the middle of a field, and a heart-shaped display that practically begs for a couple’s shot. Food trucks roll in on weekends, so you can grab a bite without leaving the property. On weekdays, pack a picnic and claim a spot in the designated area.

Timing matters. The early season brings fewer colours but fresher stems. Peak bloom is best for photos, when the farm looks straight out of a postcard. Late season still has colour, but the flowers won’t last as long once cut. Check their Instagram before you go; they share daily field updates so you know what to expect.
A few ground rules: no pets except service dogs, no digging for bulbs, and stay on the pathways. The main walkways are wheelchair and stroller accessible. If traffic on the QEW delays you, don’t worry, your ticket is still valid the same day.
Most visitors spend one to two hours on site, plenty of time to fill a basket, fill your camera roll, and question every grocery store tulip you’ve ever bought.
