Jurassic World: The Exhibition has taken us on a wild ride through Isla Nublar, in what felt like a totally cinematic experience. If you would’ve told us we would’ve been able to step inside the legendary blockbuster, we never would have believed you. And yet, the exhibit has brought Jurassic Park’s most beloved dinosaurs to life — from the adorable Little Bumpy to the terrifying Indominus Rex — through the latest animatronic technology.
The experience has proven to us just how interactive it can be for children and adults alike, but if you’re not yet convinced, we put together a list of 5 reasons why you should pay the experience a visit before it leaves for good on May 5, 2024.
1. You get to unleash your inner Owen Grady and Claire Dearing
Just like the two protagonists, you’ll get to live as a dinosaur trainer and protector — seeing firsthand what it’s like to witness a dino move and interact with humans face-to-face. While the dinosaurs at Jurassic World: The Exhibition are not actually alive (whew), brace yourself for a realistic experience where every fang, claw and scale feels real. It’s almost like that fateful moment when John Hammond found out dinosaurs could indeed come back to life.
2. It’s the opportunity to pet your favorite dinosaurs
As you walk through those iconic Jurassic Park gates, prepare to meet your beloved dinos, whether they be sweet or fierce. The towering Brachiosaurus, thrilling Velociraptor, and the vicious Tyrannosaurus Rex all come to life during Jurassic World: The Exhibition, with even special guests making an appearance! You’ll get to see tiny parasaurolophus babies in their incubator, and even pet the lovely Little Bumpy from Camp Cretaceous!
3. The experience will bring out your inner child
It’s fair to say petting dinosaurs brings out the inner child in all of us, but at Jurassic World: The Exhibition, every moment feels nostalgic. If you’ve watched any of the films, it will transport you back to that first time you saw a dinosaur on screen. Plus, the experience is ideal for actual kiddos who are still in the magic of childhood! They’ll get to gaze at every dinosaur with wonder and unleash their inner paleontologist at the Hammonds Creation Lab, sifting through sand to uncover fossils. It’s a win-win if you ask us!
4. You get to learn about the prehistoric era
At the Creation Lab, scientists will take you through the most fascinating journey. You won’t just see tiny baby dinos, you’ll also learn about the dinosaur eggs that decorate the walls of the lab, analyzing anything from fossils to poop in order to learn more about those gentle giants we love so much. It’s an exciting time to foster your knowledge of the prehistoric era, especially for kids who don’t know much about the time period.
5. It’s a family-friendly adventure unlike any other
Finally (though we could find plenty more reasons why you should check out the exhibit), Jurassic World: The Exhibition is the ideal family outing this summer. Making a road trip over to Mississauga, meeting your favorite dinosaurs and snapping pictures to remember for a lifetime sounds like the perfect experience. And if you ever want to do more than the exhibit, you’ll find plenty of things to do in and around Square One Shopping Centre for a day filled with adventure.
