An iconic New York City dessert shop is officially coming to Ontario.
For nearly 30 years, Magnolia Bakery has been a beloved institution in Manhattan, recognized globally as one of NYC’s most legendary spots to satisfy a serious sugar craving.

The famous bakeshop famously sparked a global cupcake craze after a starring cameo on Sex and the City, and now, confirms it plans to expand into Canada for the very first time. Under a brand-new franchise agreement, a whopping 10 locations with the brand’s signature vintage charm and whimsical pastel decor are set to open across the province.
For those who know, this includes the bakery’s world-famous, ultra-creamy banana pudding. Layered with fresh bananas, vanilla wafers, and velvety pudding, the cult-favourite treat sells at a rate of five cups every single minute globally. Alongside the legendary pudding, guests can expect a full menu of classic, scratch-made American treats, including their iconic red velvet cupcakes, rich cheesecakes, fudgy brownies, and seasonal cookies.

While exact opening dates and specific addresses haven’t been locked down just yet, the company has confirmed that the Greater Toronto Area and key spots across the province are the prime targets for the initial rollout.
Besides the highly anticipated Ontario expansion, the sweet-toothed empire is in the middle of its biggest growth year on record, operating over 40 international spots in places like India, Turkey, and Qatar. You can keep an eye out for updates on the brand’s official website and social media channels as they prepare to finally bring a taste of the Big Apple to our side of the border.
