McDonald’s Canada is throwing it back to 1995 in the sweetest way possible, celebrating both the Toronto Raptors’ 30th anniversary and the birth of the iconic McFlurry.
Not only are the Raptors marking three decades on the court, but the McFlurry is also celebrating 30 years since initially launching in Canada.
The ’95 McFlurry is now exclusively available in Ontario, inspired by the Raptors’ original purple-and-red colour scheme.
The nostalgic dessert combines creamy vanilla soft serve with a swirl of blueberry-flavored syrup and red popping candy for a burst of flavor and crunch, which aims to “bring back the fun and nostalgia of the ’90s.”
“It’s not every day that you celebrate the 30th anniversary of two Canadian icons” said Melissa Hains, director of field marketing at McDonald’s Canada.
“With the McFlurry and the Raptors celebrating 30 years, we wanted to craft a delicious way for fans to express their pride and mark this huge milestone.”
If you weren’t aware, the McFlurry was actually invented right here in Canada! Local franchisee Ron McLellan first introduced the McFlurry in Bathurst, New Brunswick in 1995, and the rest is history.
The ’95 McFlurry is only available for a limited time at McDonald’s locations across Ontario, priced at $5.29 for a regular size and $4.89 for a snack-size.
So if you’re feeling the nostalgia (or just craving something sweet), now’s your chance to get a taste of the past!
