A stunning skating trail tucked away in the forest may just be the ultimate winter escape for Torontonians looking to trade the pavement for some mountain air.
Located just a short drive roughly 2.5 hours north the city, Blue Mountain Resort’s Woodview Mountaintop Skating trail is now open for the season.

The 1.1 km loop offers one of Ontario’s most scenic ways to embrace the season. Unlike your typical neighborhood rink, this frozen path winds through a snow-covered forest right at the top of the mountain, offering skaters a literal bird’s-eye view of the landscape below.
As you glide through the trees, you’ll be treated to stunning panoramic views of Georgian Bay and the Niagara Escarpment. The trail is beautifully groomed and illuminated, making it feel less like a workout and more like stepping directly into a winter postcard. Whether you’re a pro on the ice or haven’t laced up in years, the trail is designed for skaters of all ages and skill levels to enjoy.

Beyond ice skating, visitors can immerse themselves in Blue Mountain’s European-style village at the base of the hill. The pedestrian-only hub is filled with twinkling lights, crackling fire pits, and plenty of spots to grab a steaming hot chocolate or indulge in a cozy meal.
For those looking to make a full day of it, the resort also offers everything from the thrilling Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster to snowshoeing and world-class skiing. It’s the perfect spot to lean into the best parts of an Ontario winter.

Woodview Mountaintop Skating is located in the South Summit at Blue Mountain Resort. Tickets are priced at $31.31 for a single adult ticket, or $25.25 for children under 12. While you can bring your own skates, rentals are available on-site for those traveling light. Be sure to check the resort’s website for weather conditions and to book your skating timeslot before you make the trek.
