Peach season is just around the corner, and a charming small town just 1.5 hours from Toronto is embracing it in all its glory.
For decades, the Niagara-on-the-Lake Peach Festival has been one of the region’s most mouth-watering summer traditions.
This August, Queen Street will once again transform into a paradise of all things sweet and fuzzy. Serving as a massive thank-you to Niagara’s rich agricultural heritage and the hard-working local farmers who keep the province fed, this vibrant festival transforms the town’s main strip into a lively, peach-infused playground.
The festival is largely focused around the bustling Peach on the Street market, a pedestrian-only takeover where local merchants and bakeries showcase their best goods. You can wander between stands overflowing with fresh-from-the-farm markets, catch some live music echoing down the historic blocks, or dive into educational exhibits that highlight the deep roots of the region’s peach harvest.
Don’t miss the legendary Peach Pie Contest, where local bakers go head-to-head to see who reigns supreme; marvel at the beautifully preserved machines in the antique tractor display; or grab a brush and test your skills in Percy’s Palette Contest. If you’re bringing the little ones along, the dedicated Peechy Keen kids zone is packed with family-friendly activities, and you’ll definitely want to keep an eye out for “Percy” the peach mascot, who will be wandering the crowds for the ultimate summer photo-op.

The best part? It is completely free to attend and wander through the market, meaning you can save your cash for the endless rows of peach tastings, homemade pies, ice cream, and fresh baskets of fruit straight from the orchards.
The festival kicks off on Friday, August 7 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., and continues Saturday, August 8 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Just remember to arrive early if you want to snag the best baked goods before they sell out!
