We hate to be that guy to remind you, but, winter is coming…
With the official start to winter on Saturday, December 21, we’ve still got a few months before we have to dig out our thickest parkas of the closet, but you’re definitely also going to want to soak up as much of the remaining summer weather while you can.
According to the Farmers’ Almanac Winter 2025 Extended Weather Forecast For Canada, it’s going to be a “Wet Winter Whirlwind” defined by plenty of snow and rain across Ontario.
La Niña is expected to develop and hang on through the season, resulting in below-normal temperatures for about two-thirds of the nation, from east of the Rockies to Ontario.
“The coldest outbreak of the season will come during the final week of January into the beginning of February when frigid Arctic air brings a sharp plunge in temperatures,” the report states.
They’re also predicting above normal precipitation over the eastern third of Canada, particularly around the Great Lakes.
“Ontario’s winter will be filled with a whirlwind of both snow and rain“, reads the forecast.
As for fall, the Farmers’ Almanac expects temperatures to be generally above average, as well as plenty of rainfall in September.
Chillier temperatures and unsettled weather are forecasted for autumn’s official arrival on September 22.
Enjoy the summer heat while you can!
