Toronto’s beloved destination for Italian fare, PIANO PIANO, has once again expanded with the opening of a fifth location next to the iconic Paradise Theatre.
Drawing inspiration from the elegance of Classic Hollywood and the Orient Express, the three-level restaurant features a striking design by the award-winning Future Studio, led by Ali McQuaid Mitchell — the creative force behind the restaurant’s other standout locations in Mount Pleasant, Oakville, Colborne, and Piccolo Piano Pizzeria.
As soon as you enter, you’ll feel immersed in a world of vintage glamour, brought to life by touches like rich gemstone hues, luxurious textures, and bold fabrics.
Signature touches like statement chandeliers, lush wall coverings, and custom animal-print banquettes add to the restaurant’s distinctive vibe, recognizable enough to PIANO PIANO’s other locations, yet also unique in its own way.
The restaurant also complements the restored Paradise Theatre just next door, feeling simultaneously nostalgic and indulgent.
“The long, narrow, light-filled layout here at Bloor is perfect for embracing bold contrasts and showing off beautiful décor, hand-designed carpets, intriguing fabrics and textures, and evoking feelings of ‘wonders from the past’,” says Nikki Leigh McKean, PIANO PIANO co-founder, in the press release.
“We always desire to create a dining experience that is comfortable, intimate, yet also vibrant, that feels like you have stepped into a fantasy – a special escape.”
As for the menu, guests can anticipate PIANO PIANO’s signature menu of pizza, pasta, and indulgent dishes like Ribeye, Rack of Lamb, Octopus, Lobster, Caviar, and Truffles. The Bloor location also introduces a Pre-Theatre Set Menu, perfect for guests catching a show at the neighboring Paradise Theatre.
My personal favourites? Go for the Sweet Hornet Pizza, topped with spicy Soppressata, black olives, and hot honey, the Canestri alla Vodka for the perfect pasta with a bit of a kick, and the carrot cake for two — you can’t go wrong!
PIANO PIANO’s lunch special is also not to be missed, where diners get a choice of appetizer, any pizza or pasta dish, and dessert for just $36.
PIANO PIANO Bloor is now open daily from 12 p.m. until late located at 1006 Bloor Street West.
