Toronto sure loves its pizza, be it a square-shaped Detroit-style slice from Descendant or a New York-inspired classic from Badiali.
Soon, locals in the east end are going to have yet another spot to add to their list for authentic Neapolitan pizza, once Neapolitan Pizzeria No.900 opens this Friday August 23.
The Montreal-based pizzeria has over two dozen locations in Quebec, as well as one in Lyon, France. Award-winning chefs Mirko D’Agata and Chef Fiodar Huminski will help bring the brand to life in Toronto, personally training the team.
No.900 stands apart with its certification by AVPN (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, The True Neapolitan Pizza Association), by following its rules of the art by cooking their pizzas at 900 degrees Fahrenheit for 90 seconds.
Sourcing its high quality ingredients from producers in Quebec, Ontario, and Italy, the pizza dough is made with 00 flour with low proteins, which first undergoes a 24-hour process before it’s baked in a hand-made Marra Forni pizza oven.
Organic Costa Amalfitana tomatoes grown in the nutrient-rich soil on the Mountain of Tramonti are another feature ingredient the pizzeria incorporates into its offerings, highlighted in all of their red sauce pies.
In addition to the tomato-based pizzas, No.900’s Toronto menu will feature white pizzas, salads, small plates, and shareables like charcuterie, mozzarella, and arancini. Imported Italian wines from artisan winemakers are also on the menu for the perfect pairing.
No.900 will open in The Beaches neighbourhood at 1987 Queen Street East, and offer an indoor dining space, pizza to-go, or delivery.
