Skating in the skies starts this Sunday!
Winter can be characterized by many different things: cold temperatures, snowy weather, cozy sweaters, hot chocolate, warm fireplaces, and for some… the return of skating rinks! Well, if the last item got you excited, we have fabulous news for you: a brand new skating rink is opening up in Toronto — and we mean literally up because it’s located on a rooftop next to the CN Tower!
Launching just in time for the chilly season, Sky Skate has transformed Toronto’s famed The Porch rooftop patio into an outdoor rooftop skating venue, and the rink will start accepting reservations on Sunday, November 8. If you’re hunting for a unique winter experience, this is a great bet because you’ll be sliding around the synthetic resin rink with incredible views of the CN Tower in the distance.
All ages are welcome at the rink, but guests under 18 years old will need an adult supervisor to sign a waiver and be present during the skating experience. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, but keep in mind that they must be consumed while you’re seated at the designated rooftop tables. In addition, alcoholic drinks will be sold onsite to those aged 19+ and with valid ID (but only after finished skating).
Sky Skate recommends you make a reservation since there are capacity limits in place. Tickets cost $14.95 for adults and $9.95 for kids (under 13). Also, it costs $14.95 to rent skates and a helmet (mandatory), but you are welcome to bring your own if you have them. In terms of safety, all the current local COVID-19 health and safety measures are being followed at the rink, including the mandatory use of masks at all times except when seated at your table. Furthermore, skating will only be permitted in one direction (counterclockwise).
Who else is looking forward to checking out this unique downtown skating experience?!
