Just when you thought winter was behind us, a special weather statement has been issued for Toronto and the GTA, warning of an early spring storm that’s expected to bring strong winds, rain, and potentially double-digit snow this week.
According to Environment Canada, a Colorado low will push into the area today, bringing heavy rain and strong winds up to 70 km / h that will continue into Wednesday.
Anywhere from 25 to 50 mm of rain is anticipated over Wednesday, which has a forecasted day time high of 7 C before dropping to 3 C.
Overnight Wednesday, the cooler air may change the rain into wet snow, potentially bringing anywhere from 5 to 15cm to southern and eastern Ontario. Some areas east of Toronto could see as much as 20 cm!
By Friday, the rain should ease up a bit with a high of 5 C, before Saturday brings sunny skies and a high of 8 C.
Be prepared for a messy commute Wednesday and Thursday, and the risk of power outages due to the weather.
