The real magic is happening just north of the city at the Spring Tonic Maple Syrup Festival. A cherished local tradition that has been quietly running for over three decades.

Tucked away in the beautiful Tiffin Conservation Area, this is not your average commercialized food fest. It is an authentic, immersive dive into Ontario’s sweetest export.
Picture yourself taking a tractor-drawn wagon ride deep into the forest, where the scent of woodsmoke and boiling sap fills the air. You get to take a step back in time to see how Indigenous peoples and early settlers first harvested maple syrup. Then, watch the modern evaporation process in action.
Let’s be honest, you are really here for the food. Your ticket includes a massive, piping hot pancake and sausage breakfast drenched in fresh, locally made Tiffin maple syrup.

While you eat, there is live music from local musicians, a surprisingly intense dog agility show, and even an exotic animal encounter where you might find yourself near a boa constrictor.
It is the perfect excuse to escape the city, breathe in some fresh forest air, and stock up on limited-batch maple syrup you cannot find in any grocery store. For the sweetest weekend of the year, gather your friends, grab a flannel, and head north.
