Taste of North York is more than a food festival. Over three days, it brings together the cultures, flavours, and communities that make North York one of Toronto’s most vibrant and diverse destinations.
At its core, the festival celebrates the power of food to connect people, turning every meal into an opportunity to discover something new.
Running from June 5 to 7, Taste of North York is presented by NeighbourLink North York, a community organization that supports local residents through food banks and community care programs. Every purchase helps support initiatives that make a meaningful difference in the community.
The food is the main attraction, with a wide range of vendors showcasing the diverse cuisines that reflect the people and cultures of North York. From familiar favourites to new discoveries, the festival offers a true taste of the neighbourhood’s multicultural character.
Visitors can sample a wide range of flavours, from Filipino and Japanese-inspired dishes to Brazilian, Persian, Indian, Latin American, Caribbean, and other global cuisines.
What makes the experience special is its authenticity. These are not tourist-focused interpretations of global cuisines, but rather the flavours that local communities know, love, and enjoy every day. The result is a festival that feels less like a food showcase and more like a celebration of the neighbourhood.
The food may draw you in, but it is only part of the experience. Each day brings its own entertainment, transforming the festival into a celebration of culture, music, and community.
Celebrate diversity
Friday evening features Latin Night, complete with dance lessons and a live Latin DJ who encourages everyone to join in, regardless of experience. Saturday shines a spotlight on Persian culture, while Sunday closes the weekend with the sounds of a live big band performing in the square at dusk.
Throughout the festival, cultural performances showcase the communities that make North York so diverse, including Korean dancers, Chinese musicians, Indian classical performers, Ukrainian dance groups, and Filipino performers. Rather than simply celebrating diversity, the festival creates a space where cultures can share their traditions, stories, and talents with one another.
Mel Lastman Square is one of North York’s most welcoming gathering spaces, but during Taste of North York it takes on an entirely new energy. The square becomes a place where cultures, cuisines, and communities come together in a way that feels both lively and effortless.
One moment you might be joining a Bollywood dance lesson, the next enjoying empanadas from a local vendor before settling in to watch live music with friends, family, or even complete strangers.

Families will find plenty to keep children entertained throughout the weekend, including caricature artists, face painting, giant games, aerial hammocks, and mini golf. Visitors are also encouraged to bring nonperishable food donations to help support NeighbourLink North York’s ongoing community programs.
At its core, the festival is built on a simple idea: communities are stronger when people come together.
Taste of North York creates opportunities to meet new people, experience different cultures, and gain a deeper appreciation for the diversity that defines the city. Visitors arrive for the food, stay for the atmosphere, and leave with a greater understanding of the communities that make Toronto such a vibrant place to call home.
