From September 7th through 17th, the annual TIFF 23 will take over the busy downtown King St. for a showcase of diverse and internationa films. Because of the current strikes by WAG and SAG-AFTRA, of Hollywood writers and actors, the usual walk of the stars won’t take place, which may mean a little less foot traffic than normal which can be a good thing.
Either way, there’s still a jam-packed schedule of titles and talks from esteemed guests like Spike Lee, Guillermo del Toro, and Nadine Labaki.
This year’s lineup features 47 titles from filmmakers representing 45 countries, suited perfectly for the city of Toronto which boasts a multicultural range of people and over 180 languages and dialects spoken. The Shangri-La Hotel is said to be continuing their tradition of having a movie-themed high tea, with more details of that to come, and restaurants in the area will be doing specials to commemorate the event.
