If you’ve been wanting to try your hand at one of the fastest-growing new sports in North America but not sure where to start, this is your chance.
Toronto’s favourite sustainable-yet-luxurious destination, the 1 Hotel Toronto, has partnered with iconic Canadian brand Roots to open two lavish outdoor pickleball courts – and they’re only here for a few more days!
In place of their reflecting pond, you’ll find the courts behind the hotel’s garden on Wellington Street, now open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. until September 29.
Open to hotel guests and locals alike, anyone is welcome to play for free on a first-come, first-served basis. 1 Hotel guests and residents are welcome to borrow paddles and balls from the front desk, while Toronto locals will need to bring their own equipment to play.
The two courts can accommodate up to eight players at a time, making them perfect for doubles matches or for friends who are looking to try out the sport together. Play time is also limited to 30 minutes if there’s a wait, and the courts cannot be reserved in advance.
Whether you’re a seasoned player or curious to discover what the buzz around pickleball is all about, this downtown pop-up is the perfect chance to join the fun before it wraps up at the end of summer.
