If the thought of Valentine’s Day flowers, chocolates, and lovey-dovey-everything makes your stomach turn, this market might be more of your vibe.
The My Bloody Valentine Market takes over Ground Control this Sunday, February 10, where you can shop over 35 vendors celebrating the dark side of Valentine’s Day.
Hosted by the Toronto Dark Arts Market, you’ll be able to shop everything from chocolates shaped into skulls, fetish gear, and taxidermy.
“How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day when you’re dark at heart?” Their social media page reads.
“For generations of goths, punks, and other weirdos, the day of flowers and chocolate and pretty heart-shaped greetings can often seem a bit… sickening. But sometimes sickening can be good, especially when you fill the day with the traditional trappings, only with a dark twist.”
Whether you’re looking for flowers made from forged iron or jewelry in the shape of coffins and bats, the My Bloody Valentine Market is sure to have something to catch your eye.
Sip on a beverage from the bar while you browse, all to the sounds of a “love-themed” playlist curated with alternative punk, goth, and new wave artists.
Admission to the event is free and despite its oddities, is curated to be family-friendly.
