If you’ve been feeling that hole in your heart since Hudson’s Bay shuttered all its stores for good, this might bring some comfort.
Just over a year after announcing plans to open two new urban Toronto stores, Simons has finally revealed the opening date of its new flagship location.
As of 10 a.m. on August 14, 2025, Canada’s oldest family-run fashion retailer will open its doors to the public at Yorkdale Shopping Centre, taking over the former Nordstrom location.
Spanning more than 118,000 square feet across two levels, the new Yorkdale store promises an elevated shopping experience that blends fashion, art, and architecture, featuring exclusive Simons labels, international designer brands, and Canadian talent including local brands and artists to be unveiled at the opening.
Designed with a strong focus on natural elements, the Yorkdale location showcases architecture by Lemay-Michaud and interior design by Toronto’s own Gensler Design. The space reflects Simons’ signature style, fusing modern fashion with curated artistic and cultural experiences.
Despite being founded in 1840 in Quebec City and having 17 stores across Canada, urban Toronto has not had a Simons store until now. The closest location is at Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga.
The Yorkdale opening will become Simons’ 18th store, with the 19th to open at the Toronto Eaton Centre later this year.
