Toronto had a rude awakening this morning with the first frost of the season, after a blissful few days of unseasonably warm temperatures.
Yesterday, Environment Canada issued a yellow frost advisory overnight as temperatures plunged toward zero degrees Celsius across the Greater Toronto Area, threatening gardens, crops, and local foliage.
Luckily, forecasters confirm that the icy morning snap won’t stick around for long. The frost warning has now officially ended, and a mild front from south of the border is quickly sweeping into southern Ontario. Sunshine throughout the day will melt off any remaining morning frost, kicking off a major temperature rebound over the next few days.
Torontonians can look forward to a stretch of Indian summer-like warmth as the week moves along. Midweek temperatures are set to surge well past the usual seasonal average of 16 degrees Celsius, reaching into the low twenties by Wednesday afternoon.
While daytime highs will stay sunny and pleasant through Wednesday and Thursday, overnight temperatures are still expected to dip on the chillier side.
Looking ahead to the Thanksgiving long weekend, conditions should settle back down closer to seasonal norms.
