This August, Toronto’s skyline is set to transform into a dazzling display of light and sound as the city hosts its first-ever cinematic drone show, The Origin of Light.
Taking place for one night only on August 19, 2025 at the historic Fort York National Historic Site, this immersive experience will blend cutting-edge drone technology with live orchestral music for a performance unlike anything Toronto has seen before.
Brought to life by Illumin Drone Shows and Portal Nine Experiences, the 90-minute show will feature hundreds of synchronized drones, a 15-piece orchestra, and a captivating vocal performance by Filipina-Canadian artist Arlene Paculan.
“This isn’t just a drone show – it’s a sensory pilgrimage,” said the founder of Illumin Drone Shows Christian Ilumin. “We designed every moment to hit like cinema – to surround you, move you, and leave you changed.”
The performance will tell the story of Lyra, a celestial being who emerges from silence and darkness to find the light. The Ontario Pops Orchestra will perform the original score live, elevating the story’s emotional arc.
Audiences will get rare VIP access to the historic grounds of Fort York, where they can view the show from. In addition to the main performances, they’ll also be able to explore a digital art exhibit, connect with the artists and musicians during a pre-show meet-and-greet, and enjoy food and beverage options throughout the night.
Tickets start at $118.16, which includes unobstructed views of the orchestra, stage, and drone show, an official floral keepsake, digital programs and wallpapers, and entry to the on-site immersive art exhibit.
The event begins at 6:30 p.m. on August 19, 2025, at Fort York National Historic Site. View their website here for more details and to secure your tickets!
