One of Toronto’s most beloved summer traditions is officially returning for 2026, bringing a season of free screenings to some of Toronto’s favourite parks.
For the past 16 years, the Toronto Outdoor Picture Show (TOPS) has been transforming local parks into open-air theaters, complete with giant screens and professional sound systems.

This year’s 16th annual festival kicks off on June 26 with a special three-night opening weekend at Christie Pits Park. While the full list of titles remains a surprise until May 12, the festival is known for its curated mix of blockbuster hits, indie gems, and Canadian shorts that cater to film buffs of all ages.
Each event will feature a free screening that begins at sundown, creating a community atmosphere where hundreds of neighbours gather on the grass. To accommodate the city’s summer schedule, the festival will travel to different neighborhoods throughout July and August. You can catch weekly Sunday screenings at Christie Pits, Thursday night films at Corktown Common, and a mid-August stint at Bell Manor Park.
Guests are encouraged to arrive early to snag a prime spot and enjoy food and drinks from local vendors. It’s the perfect low-cost way to spend an unforgettable summer evening in the city.
One notable change for 2026 is the absence of the Fort York venue, which will be busy hosting official Fan Festival events for the FIFA World Cup. However, the rest of the circuit remains intact:
- Christie Pits Park: Sundays, July 5 to August 23
- Corktown Common: Thursdays, July 2 to July 30
- Bell Manor Park: August 13 to August 15
While the event is completely free and doesn’t require a ticket, it remains a community-focused initiative with charitable donations encouraged to keep the festival going.
All you need to bring is a blanket, a few chairs, and your favourite snacks. You can find the full programming details and weather updates on the Toronto Outdoor Picture Show website once the lineup is revealed.
