One of the GTA’s prettiest historic strips will soon shutting down the roads for a sun-soaked block party this June.
Unionville Festival is making its grand return for 2026 on June 6 and 7, transforming its iconic Main Street into a pedestrian village for the weekend. This includes local food trucks, pop-up artisan markets, and live music on every corner.

Locals are particularly looking forwards to this year’s festival, as it comes after the street has undergone a major face-lift. Now, the newly completed Main Street Restoration means the neighbourhood is looking better than ever. Plus, the festival is returning to its absolute full scale, setting the vibe for a packed summer of local events.
However, one of the coolest parts about this festival is how it actually started. Back in 1969, the historic street was nearly bulldozed when the city wanted to widen Kennedy Road north of Highway 7.
Locals refused to let their heritage homes and businesses get destroyed, launching a huge protest to save the neighborhood. Their successful rally is what sparked the very first festival, turning a moment of community activism into a decades-long summer tradition.

Whether you’re looking to dance to some live bands, shop local creators, or just soak up the incredible energy, the festival is a must-visit for your summer bucket list. You can find more details here on their website.
