If you need a unique way to cool off this weekend, an epic water gun battle is returning to the city just in time.
Organized by Urban Playground Toronto, the Toronto WaterGun Fight has become a highly anticipated summer tradition, and one of the city’s most lighthearted ways to beat the seasonal heat wave.
One again, the iconic Berczy Park will be transformed into a soaking wet battlefield filled with colorful water blasters and costumed participants. Spanning across the downtown public square, hundreds of locals and visitors will gather to engage in an epic afternoon of drenched chaos. A specially designated splash zone will ensure everyone gets in on the action, ready to host a friendly free-for-all for all who arrive with a water pistol in hand.
The main event is a free, 90-minute battle featuring a mix of tactical ambushes, playful betrayals, and team face-offs. This year, the downtown park will fill up on July 11, with the first wave of splashes scheduled to launch around 1:30 p.m. The gathering invites attendees of all ages to take part, encouraging participants to don wild costumes and bring out their inner child.
The event is completely free to join. Guests are required to follow a strict set of safety rules, which include using only clear water, meaning no soap, food coloring, or mystery liquids, and ensuring that no realistic-looking replica weapons are brought to the park.
These guidelines ensure a safe and family-friendly environment before the final whistle blows, at which point participants are expected to help clear the grounds of any trash, leaving the park spotless as they dry off and head home.
