With the Civic Holiday approaching, it’s time to fill your calendar with several of the many events and activities happening in and around the city!
If you’re planning to celebrate the long weekend with a fireworks display near Toronto, there’s just one place to go.
Canada’s Wonderland will be lighting up the sky with one of its iconic, dazzling shows on Sunday, August 3. This year’s Civic Holiday celebration will feature a stunning, professionally choreographed fireworks display starting at approximately 10 p.m.
The show will last about 15 minutes and include over 6,000 colourful explosions, some reaching heights of over 800 feet above Wonder Mountain. It’s set to a custom musical soundtrack, making it a truly immersive end to a day of thrills. Even better, the fireworks are included with park admission, so guests can enjoy everything from roller coasters to water rides at Splash Works before settling in for the evening spectacle.
Unlike Canada Day or Victoria Day, the Civic Holiday is not recognized as an official fireworks date by the City of Toronto. That means residents are not permitted to set off fireworks on their own property unless they’ve obtained a special permit from Toronto Fire Services.
Fireworks are also strictly prohibited in public spaces such as city parks, beaches, balconies, streets, and parking lots. As a result, Toronto doesn’t host any city-sponsored fireworks displays for the August long weekend, and you won’t see the kind of widespread celebrations that take place earlier in the summer.
Luckily, Canada’s Wonderland has got you covered, and it’s the perfect way to end your day at the park!
