With the bitterly cold Polar Vortex finally about to loosen its grip on the city, now is the perfect time to embrace winter in the city before the spring arrives next month.
1 Hotel Toronto is leaning into the season by transforming its stunning downtown property into a seasonal escape, complete with a new outdoor skating rink, nostalgic sweet treats to warm you up, and sky-high après-ski experience.

Located at the heart of King West, the new Roots Rink at 1 Hotel Toronto is now open, inviting both locals and guests to lace up and embrace the fresh air. Open daily from dawn until dusk, the rink is the perfect winter pastime. While visitors are welcome to bring their own gear, hotel guests can take advantage of complimentary rentals provided by HockeyStickMan.
Better yet, the rink is hosting Après Skate Sundays, and will be serving up classic, cozy treats like hot chocolate, s’mores, and classic maple syrup taffy rolled in snow! The event will take place every Sunday in February from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at the Garden Pavilion. The rink is slated to stay open until March, providing the weather cooperates.

For those who prefer their winter magic with a view, Mt. Harriet’s has officially returned to the 1 Hotel rooftop for its fourth season. This year, the space has been given a Roots Edition makeover, featuring cozy textures and heritage decor that bring a rustic lodge aesthetic to the Toronto skyline.
The rooftop is buzzing with weekly programming through March 15, ranging from soulful live music to electric DJ sets and day parties. Pro tip? Don’t miss the signature winter cocktails by Tromba Tequila and Dillon’s, paired perfectly with indulgent bites like baked apple and brie, lobster mac and cheese, or a decadent chocolate fondue.

Whether you’re hitting the ice or heading to the roof, this winter takeover proves that the best way to handle a Toronto snowstorm is to celebrate it.
