A longtime community tradition, the New Hamburg Fall Fair brings together livestock and homecraft exhibits, grandstand events, family activities, and agricultural competitions that celebrate the area’s rural heritage.
Thursday opens with Home Craft registration and a Draft Horse Pull, while Friday features Opening Ceremonies, the Citizen of the Year recognition, and a performance by the New Hamburg Concert Band.
Saturday is the fair’s busiest day, with a Baby Show, Jr. Pet Show, Draft Horse Show, Light Horse and Pony competitions, 4-H Beef and Dairy Shows, and the family-friendly Stuffed Pet Show, A Barn Good Time. The day also features a Hot Chicken Wing Eating Competition that raises funds for the Terry Fox Foundation, along with the Farmer’s Walk, a four-cylinder Demolition Derby, and the fair’s famously quirky modified toilet seat races.
Sunday & Beyond
Sunday begins with a community church service before wrapping up with an eight-cylinder Demolition Derby and another round of modified toilet seat races.
Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy children’s programming featuring Ice Princesses and Rescue Pups, while the midway expands its hours as the fair builds momentum. The fair’s volunteer-driven atmosphere helps maintain the welcoming community spirit that has made it a local tradition for generations.
Visitors should bring cash for some vendors and prepare for changing September weather. And if there’s one event worth making time for, it’s the modified toilet seat races—a beloved fair tradition and crowd favourite.
