During the holidays, Niagara-on-the-Lake’s historic Old Town comes alive with festive garlands, bows, and twinkling lights. Last year, Narcity described it as an authentic Christmas village straight out of a Hallmark movie.
The town’s 2026 holiday calendar includes the Holiday House Tour on December 4–5 and the Candlelight Stroll on Friday, December 4, hosted by the Niagara-on-the-Lake Chamber of Commerce.
Running from 7 to 10 p.m., the Candlelight Stroll features festive performances and a horse-drawn carriage-led procession, with proceeds from candle purchases supporting a community-nominated cause.
The Pumphouse Holiday Market runs December 4–13, featuring handmade gifts, ornaments, and festive decorations. The Tractor Parade follows on Thursday, December 10, bringing illuminated tractors through town.
The Christmas Parade takes place Saturday, December 12, starting at 11 a.m. at King and Centre Streets in Old Town. Public skating at Virgil Arenas runs from 1:30–3 p.m. that afternoon. Other festive experiences include horse-drawn carriage tours with Sentineal Carriages, subject to availability, and Shaw Festival productions of Cinderella and A Year with Frog and Toad.

The Gardens at Pillar and Post hosts a Christmas Market on November 21–22, with additional festivities beginning November 20. The Prince of Wales Hotel offers a Victorian Nutcracker Feast and Breakfast with Santa on select dates. Holiday shoppers can also visit Just Christmas, which describes itself as Canada’s oldest year-round Christmas emporium.
Visitors should arrive early, check carriage tour availability and book in advance, and secure parking before crowds arrive. The first weekend of December features the Holiday House Tour, Candlelight Stroll, and Holiday Market, while December 12 brings the Christmas Parade.
