We know, we know, Toronto isn’t the poutine capitol of Canada. That crown belongs to Montreal, but if you’re not looking to make the trip, then there’s plenty of great options here for delicious, gravy-covered, squeaky cheesy poutine. Here’s 7 of Toronto’s favorites.
1. Nom Nom Nom
Named the best in Toronto, Nom Nom Nom could’t have been left off this list. A tiny stall that offers amazingly fresh poutine that’s been named one of the best and even comes close to Quebec’s standard. Their original offers the same delicious gravy and cheese curds topped on golden french fries, but they’re also whipping up other variations: the Super Dog with sliced hot dogs, their Smoked Meat options which offers, just what it sounds like, topped meat.

2. Smoke’s Poutinerie
Smoke’s Poutinerie is named one of the largest and oldest in Canada and have the tagline “How Do You Like Your Pountine?” That means there’s plenty of variety to choose from, part of Smoke’s DNA. Pick your protein–chicken, beef, pork–or vegetarian inspired by some of the world’s favorite dishes like Korean Beef, Philly Cheesesteak, Buffalo Chicken, and Pulled Pork. Veggies can enjoy buffalo cauliflower and tater tot toppings, plus rainbows of veggies.
One of the main ingredient is in the name. Burgers N’ Fries Forever does an amazing menu full of burgers, topped french fries, and of course, poutine. We’d recommend giving their poutine a try, made the standard way, but adding a burger alongside it for a complete meal.
3. Holy Chuck Burgers
For a delicious, filling meal, order their signature ‘The Holy Chuck’ with maple-smoked bacon, cheese, and caramelized onions with a special request to not add toppings, then order a side of Signature Poutine made with squeaky Quebec cheese curds and beef gravy. Yum!
4. Leslieville Pumps
The votes are in and Leslieville Pumps is a great spot for poutine! Lesleville Pumps serves amazing BBQ and their poutine is made hearty with hand-cut fries, Ontario cheese curds, gravy, smoker jus and you can even top it with their delicious and smoky baked beans, pulled pork, or beef brisket.
5. Mr. Tasty Fries
Some of the best poutine this side of Ottawa, Mr. Tasty Fries is the blue food truck that hangs out outside of City Hall. Known for its delicious, classic poutine that comes in a hearty size at a great price.
6. Enchanted Poutinerie
A unique poutine place that serves the viral and colorful Unicorn poutine. Whether or not you’d actually try it, we thought we’d include it on the list for its novelty and unique quality. The poutine is covered in purple and pink gravy making for an extra colorful and photo worthy meal or go for their Classic, Jerk Chicken, or Cheese Burger.

A staple in Toronto for Jerk Chicken Poutine, Tropical Joe’s is the place to be. With excellent spiced gravy, cheese curds and spicy jerk chicken, what’s not to love?
