Yet another bone-chilling blast is headed for Toronto, and it looks like winter isn’t ready to pack its bags just yet.
While the city has enjoyed some much-needed relief over the past week, temperatures are expected to plunge dramatically as we head into March. According to The Weather Network, temperatures will start rapidly descending this Wednesday. While we’ll see a daytime high of 0 C, the nighttime low is expected to feel closer to a shivering -16 C.
The upcoming weekend is where things get truly frigid. Saturday night will see lows of -9 C (feeling like -16 C with the wind chill), while Sunday night drops even further to -12 C, with a biting wind chill that will make it feel like -20 C.
This cold snap is expected to linger into the first full week of March, with Monday bringing more sub-zero temperatures and Tuesday potentially introducing a fresh dusting of snow to the city streets.
While the plunging temperatures might be a bit of a shock after a milder stretch, the silver lining is that the bright February sun is sticking around for a few more days. Anyone heading out to explore the city should prepare with heavy layers and keep those toques and gloves handy at least until the middle of next week.
Temperatures are eventually expected to moderate back toward seasonal norms, but for now, Toronto is definitely feeling the winter chill.
