A delicious festival dedicated to Canada’s most iconic sweet treat is returning this March, and it’s worth the road trip to satisfy your sugar cravings.
The Bowmanville Butter Tarts and More Market has become a tradition for both local and out-of-town foodies. Taking place this spring on March 28, the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex will be taken over by dozens of bakers and makers for a day-long celebration of all things gooey and flaky.

Presented by Gotta Luv Butter Tarts, the event features over 50 vendors from across Ontario, each bringing their own unique spin on the classic dessert. Whether you’re a purist who sticks to the traditional plain filling or an adventurer looking for flavours like maple bacon, salted caramel, or even PB&J, there is a tart for every palate.
Beyond celebrating the namesake treat, you’ll also find a curated marketplace filled with artisanal baked goods, handmade crafts, and local jewelry. In addition, the market isn’t just about the sweets – it’s a full family experience. This year’s lineup includes live entertainment, children’s activities, and even a competition to crown the best butter tart of the show.

The sweetest part? Admission to the event is completely free! The Bowmanville Butter Tarts and More Market will take place at 2440 Durham Regional Hwy 2 on Saturday, March 28, with doors open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
