Just over an hour away from Toronto, you’ll find one of the largest outdoor swimming pools in the province.
Tucked away in Brantford, the massive 1.25-acre pool at Brant Conservation Area is the perfect reason to take a quick road trip out of the city. Designed with a giant footprint that rivals a football field, the pool provides an ideal place for families, sun-loungers, and avid swimmers to cool off.
Nestled along a protected bend of the historic Grand River, it’s also a popular destination for anglers, hikers, bikers and paddlers.
The Brant Conservation Area pool is largely focused around its mammoth size and a kid-friendly design that makes it incredibly easy to access. Instead of traditional sharp drop-offs, the pool features a unique, slowly sloping bottom that mimics a natural beach entry, making it an ideal setup for younger visitors or anyone looking to ease into the water.
The pool also features a dedicated splash pad area right on site to keep the kids entertained. Within the conservation area, visitors can discover picturesque hiking loops, shaded picnic spots, and scenic biking trails scattered across the park grounds.
Keep an eye out for launch points along the shore where you can drop in your own canoe or kayak to explore the peaceful waters of the Grand River.

If you’re planning a visit, regular conservation area day-use fees apply at the front gate. Anyone aged four and older can grab a pool entry wristband for just $3 (while toddlers aged three and under get to swim for free).
However, keep in mind that due to its popularity on blistering hot days, total daily visitor numbers are strictly capped, and entry isn’t guaranteed if the pool hits maximum capacity. The gates stay open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. right through until Labour Day. Just remember to pack your CSA-approved lifejackets and check the park’s real-time capacity tracker before making the drive.
