A viral cake potluck is returning to Toronto this fall, bringing hundreds of dessert lovers together for the city’s sweetest outdoor gathering.

Organized by Le Dolci Culinary School, the third annual event is expected to draw over 400 guests – and everyone is required to bring a homemade cake to share.
How It Works
The concept is straightforward: attendees arrive with a cake they’ve baked themselves, spread out on picnic blankets, and spend the afternoon sampling one another’s creations. Past editions have featured everything from a samosa cake and a two-tier mango cake to a peach coulis cake decorated in lambeth-style piping – a reflection of Toronto’s diverse baking traditions.
Beyond the cake, the event will include live DJ sets, glam and henna stations, alcohol-free cocktails, a coffee bar, and a cake-inspired photo booth. The event welcomes bakers of all skill levels, from professionals to first-timers.
Community and Cultural Roots
“What makes Cake Picnic extra special are the emotions and stories behind the cakes,” said Lisa Sanguedolce, founder of Le Dolci Culinary School. “We’ve had a cake recipe from someone’s sister who had passed, those who use multi-generational family recipes, bakers who incorporate flavours from their culture in unexpected ways.”
Previous editions have attracted guests from as far as Vancouver and Montreal, alongside Toronto and Greater Toronto Area locals.
