One of Canada’s Wonderland’s most iconic roller coasters is finally taking flight again with a major makeover, and you can ride it starting today.
After months of anticipation and rigorous testing, the park has officially reopened the fan-favourite ride under a bold new identity: The DareDeviler.
Formerly known to thrill-seekers as Flight Deck (and originally introduced as Top Gun back in 1995), the inverted steel coaster has undergone a massive overhaul aimed at giving riders a much smoother, more comfortable experience.
While the coaster’s signature track layout and head-spinning inversions remain intact, the ride now features brand-new trains equipped with modern vest-style restraints. That means you can say goodbye to the headache-inducing headbanging of years past and enjoy sweeping aerial views with total visibility.
The attraction’s new lore draws inspiration from the turn of the 20th century, when world expositions dazzled crowds with future tech. As the story goes, French inventor Étienne Vallon unveiled a revolutionary prototype plane called The DareDeviler, designed for impossible stunts. The aircraft gained legendary status in the barnstorming era when fearless Canadian aviator Clara “Hawk” Redmond piloted it through heart-pounding barrel rolls and breathtaking dives.
Integrated seamlessly into the park’s Grand World Expo area, the modernized coaster lets riders step into that story, soaring through high-speed inversions and tight turns that mirror the daring feats of early stunt pilots.
From its dramatic drops to its high-flying spirit of adventure, the reborn ride promises a fresh fusion of history and high-speed excitement for a new generation of thrill-seekers. The DareDeviler officially made its debut today, July 23.
