We’re still a month away from the official start to summer, but Canada’s Wonderland is gearing up to welcome the season early with the return of its expansive water park.
After postponing for a week due to unseasonably cold weather, Splash Works will be opening for the season this Saturday, May 31, while the rest of the park has already opened back on May 8.
Spanning 20 acres, Splash Works features 17 various water slides and attractions to get your thrills in at, from cliff jumping into a pool at Mountain Bay Cliffs to the Muskoka Plunge, where you’ll free-fall from 60 feet high after reaching speeds near 40 km/h.
For those who prefer something a little more relaxing, you can instead opt to float down the lazy river or cool off in the wading pool at the Lakeside Lagoon. Want to add a little more luxury to your day? Splash Works also has VIP cabanas you can book during your visit to the water park.
In case you missed it, the park got a brand new water slide last summer called Moosehorn Falls. Inspired by the river rapids and waterfalls of New Brunswick’s Fundy National Park, the giant ride takes your six-person raft careening down a river before dropping you over a 42-foot wall.
Back in the main park at Canada’s Wonderland, they will also soon be opening the park’s tallest, longest, and fastest roller coaster ever.
AlpenFury will become their 19th roller coaster, featuring a series of intense twists and turns and nine inversions, which is more than any launch coaster in the world!
The ride’s opening date is still to be determined, but based on their social media, it should be very soon! In the meantime, let’s keep our fingers crossed for some warmer weather to enjoy the water park and other fun rides at the park.
