Canada has once again held onto its position among the top 10 most powerful passports in the world, according to this year’s Henley Passport Index.
The annual report compiles data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), ranking 199 passports by the number of destinations their holders can access without needing a visa. This year, the Canadian passport allows visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 184 countries, securing the 8th spot globally.
Although Canada dropped slightly from 7th place last year, the Canadian passport still offers extensive international travel freedom. Certain countries that require Canadians to obtain a visa to enter include China, Brazil, Venezuela, India, Russia, and Pakistan.
In comparison, the U.S. passport dropped from 8th to 10th place, offering access to 182 destinations without a visa.
At the top of the list for 2025 is Singapore, which grants passport holders visa-free access to 193 destinations. At the bottom of the list is Afghanistan in 99th place, only offering access to 25 countries without a visa.
