Most people visit the CN Tower, snap a Glass Floor photo, and leave—but 116 stories up, a 1.5-meter ledge wraps around the outside of the main pod, and you can walk it hands-free.
EdgeWalk, the Guinness World Record holder for the highest external walk on a building, is one of Toronto’s most intense experiences. Secured in a harness and tethered to an overhead rail, you’ll spend about 30 minutes 356 meters above the city, circling the tower as your guide encourages you to lean back, look down—and even feel it sway in the wind.
What It’s Actually Like Up There
The full experience runs about 90 minutes. You’ll gear up in a bright red jumpsuit at base camp, lock away your belongings (no phones allowed), then head up to the Summit Room above the main observation deck. From there, a heavy door swings open—and suddenly you’re outside, with nothing between you and the Rogers Centre far below but open air.
The guides are genuinely entertaining, equal parts safety expert and stand-up comic, guiding you through a series of poses, including the signature backwards lean over the edge. On clear days, you can spot the Toronto Islands, the Niagara Escarpment in the distance, and if a Blue Jays game is on, you might even catch the action through the open roof below.
Since cameras aren’t allowed, the guides capture all the photos and videos for you. Every participant leaves with a keepsake video, two printed photos, a certificate of achievement, and a general admission ticket to explore the rest of the tower, including the top observation platform.

EdgeWalk runs seasonally and operates in almost any weather, with colder days often offering the clearest views if you can handle it. Participants must be at least 13 years old and in reasonable physical condition. It’s a popular choice for birthdays, proposals, team-building events, and graduations, perfect for any occasion where “we survived that together” is the vibe.
At around $199 CAD per person, it’s not exactly a casual afternoon splurge. But in this city, a Guinness World Record experience with built-in bragging rights and views stretching to the horizon is difficult to beat.
